Welcome to Hunting Through History, where, the historical lifeways of the 18th and early 19th centuries dovetail with any number of outdoor activities.

The concept is simple. It is, in one sense, a search back through history, looking for clues to the often overlooked and misunderstood lifeways of our ancestors and, in another sense, the hands-on use of flintlocks, related accouterments, and period clothing in the pursuit of hunting. The duel approach, provides an opportune setting for learning and myth-busting, in essence, “gleaning knowledge from the past.”

I hope you enjoy what you see and treasure what you purchase, John W. Hayes, book author, freelance writer, and historical interpreter.
